Atlanta Beverage wants to thank everyone who participated in the Community Water Conservation Project.
ATLANTA BEVERAGE COMPANY raised our hands to team up with Keep America Beautiful and Anheuser-Busch to build on our commitment to water stewardship! This opportunity supported watershed projects focusing attention on the importance of water and water challenges we face in the 21st century. According to worldwildlife.org, we define water stewardship as “the use of water that is socially equitable, environmentally sustainable, and economically beneficial.”
Why does it matter? Water is a shared resource and fresh, clean water is a limited resource. While most of the planet is covered in water it is salt water that can only be consumed by humans and other species after undergoing desalination, which is an expensive process. As the years pass us by we slowly limit our access to clean and fresh water, meaning WE MUST start taking steps to reduce water and save.
As our service to the community we have decided to partake in a Water Safety Pledge for 10 days. Atlanta Beverage employees were encouraged to commit to three different pledges.
- Skip Shaving: (5 gallons/shave x 10 days = 50 gallons)
- Turn the water off while brushing teeth : (4.5 gallons/brush x twice/day x 10 days = 90 gallons)
- Shorten showers by a total of 20 mins (2 mins per day): (2.5 gallons/minute x 20 minutes = 50 gallons)
